Ground water Access Facility (GAFA) Launching event just kicked off.

May 7th, 2024 (Jigjiga) Ground water Access Facility (GAFA) Launching event kicked off in the attendance of H. E. Mustefe Mohammed, Dr. Ing. Habtamu Itefa and Water sector Ministers of IGAD member states.

Welcoming the excellencies and participants, H.E. Mustafe Mohammed stated that water is critical catalyst of development that is crucial for enhancing changes in communities lives.

H.Ex. further underscored that Ground Access Facility is an important initiative to revolutionize ground water resource driven cooperation among the border sharing countries.

Dr. Ing. Habtamu Itefa, on his part pointed out that the countries are known for sharing a lot of things; the countries share the same people along their bordelines sharing culture religion, and identity.

H.Ex. further said that the countries in their border areas also share natural resources like ground water that can serve as a means for cooperation.

The new initiative, Groundwater Facility Access (GAFA) is to create a platform for IGAD member states to collaborate on groundwater mapping, data sharing, and other related activities that bring change for communities living in borderland areas.
